UT61E+ computer access via CP2110?
« on: September 24, 2021, 06:13:38 am »
Hi,
I've just received a UT61E+ and was wondering if someone got the DMM connected via the supplied CP2110 UART bridge to his computer?
The communication seems to be bidirectional (see teardown) and it notices if the USB is plugged in (icon on LCD). But unfortunately it does not send any data (or I didn't find the correct settings).

I used the https://github.com/rginda/pycp2110 library to talk to the UART bridge, but never received any data - tried many different baud/parity combinations.

Anybody succeeded?

Leif

I'm not sure what you are asking.  Do you want to know if I can get the PC to work with the meter using UNI-Ts software or with some 3rd party program?   I have not tried to use their software but can easily set it up if you like to see if I run into any problems.

Hi,

thanks for the response. Sorry, I wasn't really precise with my question: I'm looking for a solution to get the measurements of the DMM accessible within Linux/Python-scripts. I guess the supplied vendor software under Windows works but does not allow automated measurements.

Thanks
Leif

That makes more sense.  I use LabView for all of my automation so I won't be of any help.

There is HKJ's TestController:

or just google for ut61e and python:

Hi,
thanks for the links but they do NOT support the 61E+ model. But I've started to reverse engineer the protocol by attaching an USB sniffer on windows and got quite far.

See first code here:

So for anybody interested, please join the effort.

It's working nicely - there's also a MQTT bridge that forwards the measurements

It should work also for other models:
    UT60BT
    UT61B+
    UT61D+
    UT161B
    UT161D
    UT161E
with minor changes. But couldn't test.
