I am talking about setting up the scope , using the onboard sig genny, to display VI signature of components in an unpowered assembly.
Usually done with a small transformer and current sampling resistor.
The transformer provides a floating signal and the resistor a certain maximum current.
The transformer can be replaced with a signal generator, with a floating output. At any rate galvanically isolated from the oscilloscope.
PROBLEM: the onboard signal generator shares a common ground with the oscilloscope. Other than an external transformer is there a way to set up the scope to provide this ( analog signature analysis ) functionality?
