Victor 4080 LCR meter
« on: March 14, 2019, 06:25:21 am »
Victor 4080 LCR meter, bought for about 100$. Had it for a while (about a year) and just though I'd write a short summary of it.

I use it mainly to check unknown/unmarked caps and inductors, but also for troubleshooting broken electronics.

Has rechargeable battery inside (use mini-USB connector). Came with 2 banana to crocodile clips, and they work for the most part, but struggle at certain values/frequencies. Has option to plug 4 wire connection, which I made using a 2 sided copper PCB (just filed away the copper between connectors and soldered cables to it). Yes it is a shitty cable but results show they work just fine (has since made a new and improved cable).

Opened it up and took a few pictures (sorry for the bad quality).

Measured it against a recently calibrated Hioki IM3523 at work, and the results were not bad (see Libre Office file).

Small portion of test for lazy people:

1.5mF, 100Hz

LCR METER       Cs      Rs Ω      D
Hioki IM3523(4w)   1.455   0.05585   0.051
Vc4080 (2w)      1.457   0.0565   0.052

I'm happy with the buy and it still works fine after having it for about 1 year.

If anyone want any other/more information about it just ask.

Hello,
i have one same, i wanted to know if you know which ic controller mounts this model, because you don't read anything.
Maybe it's a MSP430F437?
Thank you

Probably not this mcu. You can see the pins power/gnd pins don't match up. But since you have the same one you can start with checking the mcu datasheets for matching ones, and then probe JP202 and JP201 for more information. probably one is uart and other one for programming. I'm currently away for work, but can help you when I get back next week if you haven't found out by then.

the et43x  on the board is a give away

Rebranded afaik. VC4080 is ET430 and VC4082 is ET433
looks like Victor rebranded only these 2 from (Hangzhou Zhongchuang Electron Co.,Ltd.)  East Tester®   ET43 series.

VC4080 (ET430) is more cheap and bit less accurate and no DCR, no DC bias, fixed test signal level.

ET431 (max 10kHz),432 (max 100kHz)  have also fine adjustable 0-500mV(1mV) DC bias and 3 step adjustable test signal levels

VC4082, (ET433) all same but test signal level 0-0.7Vrms can free adjust  and test frequency can free adjust between 100Hz - 100kHz (1Hz).

If do not need free adjusted test level and three steps, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.6Vrms is ok and if do not need free frequency and freq steps 100, 120Hz, 1, 10, 40 and 100kHz is ok then this ET432 is, imho, good selection and nearly half price from ET433(VC4082). Also free adjustable DC bias is very good feature.

I have looked and searched these here now more than month because I need one LCR and I am far from my homeland where I naturally have all instruments.

---
ETA: now in hand, ET432. Also Kelvin clips are standard included with this model.  Feels better than I expect. 1199 RMB. (154 eur).

Example one model what I also look was Der EE DE-5000 but this was very soon dropped out due to its lack of adjustable DC bias and lack of adjustable test signal level etc.

EV of course. Cars with smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum.

More than a year has passed,

how do you feel about using ET432? Which do you recommend more than DE-5000? Does it have any obvious flaws? thanks!
