Warranty period on test equipment
« on: January 26, 2019, 05:03:26 pm »
I recently was looking at the GW Instek 9300B spectrum analyser as it was on a discount.

I was a bit shocked though to find that GW Instek's warranty period is only 1 year. I thought almost everyone had a 3 year warranty now-a-days.

A quick check via Farnell showed that Keysight, Rigol, Siglent, Rohde & Schwarz, AIM TTi and Tektronix all have a 3 year warranty.

Signal hound is another exception with a 2 year warranty (according to their web site).

I am a bit puzzled as to why GW Instek don't fall in line with the rest of the market. It certainly put me off buying as it seems to indicate a lack of faith in their own products, besides which given the expense of repairs on high tech equipment one year's cover seems very short.
