I have a Philips PM2534 Digital multimeter that only displays dashes.
I can operate it, change the range but it only displays dashes
Please help

Did it ever work?
Look slowly and carefully at every component, for any obvious faults. Wiggle connectors, clean if necessary.
Get the service manual
https://www.google.com/search?q=philips+pm2534+service+manual
Check the PSU voltages and ripple. Replace capacitors if necessary. Follow the service diagnostics.

According to the users manual it does that when it is in single trigger mode and there is no result available yet.

Hi,
Do you have the indicators "M RNG" and "S TRG" on the bottom left of the display.
If you have then its in manual ranging mode with single trigger and waits for a trigger.
Press the AUT/MAN and then SINGLE buttons to leave this mode.
