Is it possible to up-hack these to a 454? David |

been around for a while, but in all the years, I've not seen a single successful bandwidth hack on a LeCroy scope... :-// (but on anything else than the WS3K, h/w changes would be required) |

I think the acquisition board on these are bandwidth dependent and not software upgrades. They had to be returned to the LeCroy service centre for almost everything. We noticed it really slowed down with some features enabled and were told the PC memory (I think it was only 128MB as standard) needed an upgrade, but it was an absolute bitch to perform: loads of other boards in the way of the PC motherboard, each one with a different hex spinner or Torx, almost as if it was designed to frustrate. I did read (possible on here though it was a very long time ago) that someone hacked the licence generator and unlocked features. But it must be 15 years old now ad for £500 you can get a scope that does way more and is a lot faster. |
