What would you do with a NOS Tek 465 ?
« on: December 17, 2017, 08:24:58 pm »
Hi

I have a NOS (new old service) Tek 465 with all the manuals and a audio tape and a current probe.  It has about 2 hours of use on it.  Seems too nice to use and someday soon I will have to give it up.  Other than selling it, what else can I do with it?  Seems like it should be on display somewhere not on a work bench.

Everything works.

Any suggestions on what to do with it?  I want it to go to a good home.  No overseas shipping, I am in the US.

The history is a tech bought it new and a couple of days later died and his wife stored it in a garage and decades later sold it on CL.  The buyer did not know how to use it and sold it to me.  I think I paid $100 for it.  It has been in So. Calif all its life (low humidity).

thanks

KEEP the current probe, you'll never get the chance to have another so cheap.
Try and buy a replacement and you'll find out these things demand $ to but.

P6021 or 22 with the BNC termination are some of the best ever made.

It is a P6021 with the BNC terminator.  It came sealed in a plastic bag with the manual so it has never been used.

Any idea what the tech would have done with this ?  I do not know how the P6021 is used.

There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

It's a 60 MHz 15A AC current probe....you lucky bugger. I've got 2 that I won't part with.
Look at new RRP, it's ~$3k  :scared:

For any technician to view AC current waveforms this is an indispensable tool.
IIRC a 465 has a loop for the probe compensation output, this loop is also a current source to check current probes against.
P6021 manual attached.
