I have 3 of the EEVblog BM235s and find them easy to use, well featured, and small. They don't use up much bench space and are easy to fit in the backpack.
I have a Brymen BM869S but don't use it so often as it is quite big. It does have a few extra features that occasionally come in handy. If I only had one meter, this would be it.
I haven't bought a BM780s series as it sits somewhere between the two other models featurewise, and just no need for me (especially as I also have a EEVblog 121GW and several Tenma & Uni-T meters).
If you do mostly low voltage electronics then I'd suggest getting the BM235 as the secondary meter, but if you do more stuff involving higher voltage and mains then the BM786 might be a better choice.
Sometimes even two meters isn't enough, and I want precision readings and more digits... which is why I have multiple 5.5 and 6.5 digit bench meters including mux cards. The BM235 still gets used for all quick measurements.
