--- Quote from: pdenisowski on July 11, 2024, 10:41:48 am ---If I had four new scopes to release, I wouldn't release them all at the same time, even if they were all "ready" at the same time. NPIs (new product introductions) generate a lot of good publicity and "buzz" that extends well beyond the product being released. --- End quote --- Keysight introduced two series when the Megazoom IV came out, (2000 and 3000). But yeah, I wouldn't expect that again, let alone 4 to cover every series they have now. Not only would it be way more work, you would be effectively blowing your marketing shot in one go for the next say 5 years. Better to have multiple staged releases, and then you have new stuff to show at trade shows and online marketing for the next few years. And as practically everyone does, you start at the mid to high(er) end and work your way up and down the market levels with new releases leveraging the core tech. |

--- Quote from: pdenisowski on July 11, 2024, 10:41:48 am ---An important part of that process is working with industry influencers like Dave to give them early access to new instruments, and that of course does require some degree of confidentiality. --- End quote --- And for those interested in how that works, it's often not under NDA, it's just a handshake deal that you won't release any info. There is never any "influencer pack" with talking points and a release schedule etc, that's for the likes of the Apple's of the world and all the consumer influencers. Our industry is way more informal. And when the manufacturer starts to "tease" publicly then that's a signal that it's ok for those in the know the start teasing as well, hence me here having some fun. As has been discussed before, I'm sure that some major customers have already seen the actual unit, and maybe even have one for pre-release testing. I actually don't know if this new scope contains the long awaited "Megazoom V", I could very well be in the wrong thread. I do know (by assumption) it's not the old Megazoom IV. I do hope it is, just for nostalgia sake, as I've used every "Megazoom" scope from #1. |

A power button?! Next thing you're going to tell me it smells like new instrument smell :phew: :scared:  Yeah, the tease here is almost as much of a PR coup as the RTB2000 "killer scope in town" thread. Almost. And I'm totally here for it. |

I might release a carry handle shot next week... |
