Zonic/A&D AD3525 FFT analyzer--Schematic/Manual available?
« on: August 08, 2015, 01:51:19 am »
Just dumpster dived this thing (1991 vintage 100 kHz audio FFT analyzer with built-in signal generator), and am in need of a service manual/schematics to try to bring it back to life. When powered up, it lights EVERY front panel light and emits a continuous BEEP. That's it.  All the internal LEDs on the PSU board light, so presumably all the power rails are OK, and the CRT filament lights up.

After much digging, I was able to find a Japanese language .PDF of the operators manual, but nothing as far as repair/troubleshooting.  I tried all the obvious stuff like reseating boards, looking for burned/damage parts, etc. Anyone out there able to help with this one? It appears that Zonic went bankrupt a few years back, and these products were absorbed into IOTech, then into National Instruments, who no longer offer any support.

Hello:

Maybe I can help.  I have 2x volumes of documentation for the 3525/24 (in English) that I paid $300 for in 2005 from AND in Tokyo.  Unfortunately, the schematics/parts section is incomplete.  What I'm now looking for are the calibration instructions.

I have 2x complete 3525 units (one of favorites in my FFT collection) and another set of plug-in boards and might be able to help get yours going.  And if you're the same N2IXK who the FCC thinks lives in Teaneck, I'm in Jersey City.

Hi,

I wonder if N2IXK or Mark have a scanned copy (pdf) of the manual/schematic?
If not I wonder if you are able to create one? Or at least take photos of the schematics and send to me?

I'm in desperate need of it and there seems not to be any available on the internet.
(The only documentation I have found is in Japanese and only marketing material.)

I have just recently bought an AD-3525 that is working for 3 minutes and then freezes.
Probably a clock that stops working during warm-up. Can be tricky to find. But I will give it a try.

Thanks in advance,
/Sören

Sorry, have nothing.  Dumped my unit in broken condition at a hamfest a couple years ago.

ElektroTanya.com now has a service manual posted for the Zonic/A&D 3524/3525.
