Typical for devices to look for proof of life as a button press or something else that clicks.

Size Compare with the other 2 cheap LCR tweezers where the tip-spacing is quite a bit wider on MD1.

LINK1S, MD1 & ST1

None of the other seems to go as low as MD1, but they also got finer tips.

I have tried to like these but am seeing an issue when set to Capacitor reading. It bounces around with nothing connected. Reached out to the company for a reply ....

In the auto mode, it's reporting OL, which indicates there isn't a valid connection for evaluation.  When you switch to a dedicated mode, it's going to do it's best to try to report a value for you, reporting the effects of environmental noise.  Do you have problems with terminated measurements?  Your unit looks fine to me.
