If anyone is looking for a FLIR Exx series camera, I have one that is excess to my needs. It is the E40bx model but I will update it to E60bx+ or possibly E60+ Specification. I will only find out if the full E60 temperature range is available when I upgrade the configuration.
This camera is sat doing nothing as a spare and it seems a pity for it not to be used.
The camera is in excellent condition but the two “gull wing” doors on the sides have been removed (by me) as the end catches were missing. These doors unscrew from the camera so may be refitted but replacement door catches would need to be fabricated. I was considering making new magnetic catches from brass and tiny rare earth magnets. It is a pity that the two end catches are missing but the camera is otherwise complete and in nice condition. It would be possible to fit rubber side covers like the later models if desired. The camera is in its original storage case with charger etc.
The E40bx that I have is the excellent MK1 facelift model that has the four individual navigation buttons and the all important service menu :-+ The camera Service Menu permits the user to access the cameras calibration, add lens calibrations, correct dead pixels etc. In my opinion this is THE Exx camera to buy as the Mk2 lacks the Service Menu. This MK1 does NOT have MSX but the quality of the Exx series cameras imagery does not need MSX for image interpretation.
If anyone is interested, get in touch. It cannot be a “bargain basement” price as these still sell for decent money, but maybe a deal can be struck.
I will place the unit in the Buy and Sell area with pictures after its upgrade but thought I would give readers of this sub-forum ‘first dibs’ on the unit.
Enquiries via PM please as this is not really a discussion thread :)

Also keep in mind that MSX can still be used in the FLIR imaging software as long as you start from a visible/IR PIP combo image.

It is a lovely camera. I shall be sorry to see her go but I do have another that I will be keeping :)

Well my spare E40bx is on its way to its new home as I waved it a fond farewell this morning as the UPS courier collected it :'(
I upgraded the MK1 E40bx to full E60+ specification. Temperature Range 2 (0C to +650C) was present and so I enabled it. The cameras ID was changed in the eeprom to E60 and all useable features were enabled in the configuration files. The Service Menu was used to test the camera and all was well with it :) After doing the upgrade and testing the camera, I was reminded of why I like the Exx series so much. Really nice imaging performance :)
This is quite a new experience for me as I am loathed to sell any of my more modern cameras. I think more will have to find new homes though as they are just sat in boxes in the spare room. It seems a shame for them to not see more use. I may offer further cameras in the forums buy and sell area over the coming months.
