Dear friends,
I wonder which camera types, wavelengths and filters are best to penetrate thick fogs to obtain acceptable image quality.

The article is OK, but I very much doubt the actual images on page 4 are real 'fog' and 'fog with TIC'
The other aspect to consider is that fog often means a damp surface which not only conducts away any surface details but also provides a uniform emissivity.
For basic DIY use, water on the lens is also a problem, the commercial cameras will have heated lenses / windows
