Does emissivity affect to calibration curves?
« on: October 06, 2023, 12:02:31 pm »
Good afternoon,

I would like to know if changing the emissivity  affects somehow to the shape/slope of the calibration curve of the camera.

The question comes from the following doubt:

If I measure at two different times a relative temperature difference at one point of 20ยบ with an emmisivity X. If I change the emissivity for the same thermal video, will this relative diference change for the same time period?

Thank you

Not sure what you mean with the calibration curves but to get correct  temperature difference between object A and B you need to use correct emissivity value.

If both objects are at relatively high temperature the the emissivity setting has minor effect on relative difference.
If one object is at room temperature(background radiation temperature) and another is lot hotter the emissivity setting has huge effect on displayed temperature difference.
