« on: September 02, 2019, 09:18:53 pm »
I know they are not ding updates for this camera amymore but I was wondering how did they update it? Also is there a menu I can access while the camera is on? Also does anyone have the Firmware since FLIR doesn't have it online anymore?

Updates to the firmware are via the SDCard. The firmware update is placed in the root of the SDCard, the card inserted in the slot and the unit set to the firmware update mode. It reads the contents of the SDCard and applies the update.

FLIR did not offer a full firmware file set for these units, only a patch to address a system lock-up issue that early units suffered from.

From memory, you need the FLIR “End User Graphical User Interface” software that they used to provide on the dedicated HS series web page. The camera/scope is code named “Avalon” and you need the Avalon GUI plus USB driver. The driver and GUI were on the supplied CD.  I could not find the Avalon End User GUI on their support site after a quick search. It may be hiding there though.

I will look for the Avalon GUI in my archives. I know I have it and the Original CD somewhere.

Fraser, just joined this forum to reach out to you.  I too have obtained a HS324, and can't get the resource CD with GUI and Firmware from FLIR tech support. They've told me many different ways that they no longer support this product and do not have any files for it.

That said, any possibly way you can send me the same files on the CD? I tried the old links in this forum but they're expired.

Any information or help is greatly appreciated! Send me your Venmo and I'll drop you some $$ for your troubles.

Thanks,
Troy

Troy,

I will find my original FLIR CD and upload it to File Dropper for you. I will also upload the firmware update that prevents the unit entering a ‘crashed’ state. Give me some time to sort this out though as a bit busy today. There is no need for any form of payment.

Bought used hs-307, it came with 3.09 fw already. Installed GUI on win xp computer, luckily required .net 3.5 is not made by flir and is still downloadable. Now I have dumb question too - I used avalon GUI on pc and even tau GUI after disassembling and I almost certainly remember that in the beginning or even after connecting to tau GUI my hs-307 had instalert palettes which are not usually present in HS(and it annoyed me to click palette button many times after mistakenly pressing it) but now it only has whitehot and blackhot - can I turn instalert on somehow? it might be useful when I will be selling it, for now I dont need it

@Fraser  :-+
I encountered a problem with the screen, it streaks and mirrors the FLIR inscription. Sometimes it works fine. Could you help with updating the firmware for HS-324? Version 02.00.02 in the mocular. I will be very grateful to you for your help.

For anyone wanting the FLIR Avalon utility and associated firmware update…. Sadly the file set is being identified as malicious code so I can not upload it to Google drive anymore. There appears to be some code in the Avalon utility that Virus checkers are identifying as malicious. My files came direct from FLIR so likely a false positive.

A different file repository (BOX) is being tried.

Update:

This file repository is working.

Thank you so much Fraser I got it but windows security identified it as a virus so shut it off and downloaded again and it worked saved it to every flash drive so I wont lose it. Is the tau reset folder and files needed for my flir HS-307 or just the avalon app? Will investigate and get back to you got my fingers crossed but I doubt this all will work on windows 11 so am getting ready to build a vm with windows 7 32 bit to install the driver and use the app thanks again will get back to you with my results.

Thanks again Fraser I got avalon and tau configurator up and running fine on my win 11 pro 64 bit pc ok but the driver is still missing so neither program is detecting the camera. In which folder is the driver supposed to be? The links in the reset instruction's dont work anymore it says the driver is in the installation disc. If the driver is in the Tau or avalon installer could it be it was not installed in my system because of compatibility issues? Like maybe it should be using a win 7 or xp 32 bit machine? The MntPnt folder in the swUpdate folder was empty was that where the driver should be? Thanks for the help and feedback.

The USB driver should be installed as part of the Avalon utility installation. There is no discrete USB driver file on the original CD (I have it and checked) I suspect the driver is not compatible with the modern Windows versions. I think Win XP or Win 7 should work though. I used Win XP without problems.

There is a document with the Avalon files that details how the installation should progress.
