Early AGA (AGEMA) thermal camera Cartoons in manuals :)
Fraser:
Something light hearted :)
I have been studying old thermal camera user and service manuals and was reminded of the days when cartoonists were engaged to create cartoons for inclusion in the manuals for light hearted annotation associated with the accompanying text. In the AGA Thermovision 750 manual there is a section detailing potential uses for the Liquid Nitrogen cooled portable camera. To illustrate the scenarios, a cartoonist called Christina Lundqvist was engaged. I attach four of her cartoons from that manual. Just look at the little cartoon character holding the camera .... always smiling ;D In truth, lugging around the bulky and heavy AGA 7xx series camera would soon wipe the smile off of the users face :-DD I include a more realistic picture of a typical AGA 7xx camera user loaded down with the chest mounted controller/monitor. No smile evident ;D
I actually like the cartoons that appeared in manuals. Anyone else remember them ?

Not an AGA or Agema cartoon but one I stumbled upon when researching EEV/Marconi Argus fire fighting thermal cameras. I loved its message as I came across many people in my career who loved flashy lights, pretty pictures and the sheer "coolness" factor without actually knowing what an equipment was actually capable of doing ;D

Always liked it when technical documents would spend the time creating good 'cartoons'. Your Agema post reminded me of the cart and man portable options from Inframetrics 760. I'll need to look around for some of the original brochures I've got to see what interesting cartoons or pictures they may have.
