Things you can try:
Unplug the battery for 1 min, plug it again. Connect the wall charger to the camera. Push Left and Right keys together. Do you see the screen showing battery charging? What is charge level? I charged it for a few hours before turning it on the first time and saw the battery icon then. Nothing showing now after doing what you said and pressing the buttons. Maybe the battery just died. Although I remember reading somewhere that it should get enough power from USB to start the recovery, but I'm not sure, could have been for some other model.

The calibration date on the included information card says June 2019, so it likely has been sitting in some warehouse for fours years in who knows what environmental conditions. Perhaps time to RMA it.

If the camera even not charging and not enumerating in USB while powered off that is certainly a hardware failure....
And you also tried to connect it to USB with the battery removed, correct?

I tried with the battery removed, no change. I'll send it for repair.

Turns out the camera was shipped from Flir too long ago and doesn't even have warranty anymore, so I'll get a full refund. The dealer offered to sell E5-XT for the same price. I read from the previous page that someone had successfully liberated that model as well, but would you say it's still wiser to get the E4 model just to be on the safe side? No idea with what firmware version either one comes with at this point. And liberating the E5-XT could mean losing the extended temperature range anyway from what I read.

I'm looking to liberate my (non-WiFi) E4 after it was gifted to me as part of a redundancy and company shut down.
I believe that it has never been upgraded and is still on very old firmware.

Model E4 1.0
Part Number 63901-0101
Software 1.19.8

Looking though the thread, it is recommended to leave 1.19 as is, but I would really like to unlock the higher resolution and any menu/functionality improvements.

What would be the best way to go forward. Can I just use Buds procedure, or should I do an intermediate update first?

Yeah I did a search but 1.19 doesn't really get mentioned much, hence my question about the possible need to update to a different standard firmware and then do the hack?

Just upgrade to 3.16.0 and go from there, all the hardware versions can be upgraded.

I used guide from this website: https://fubar.gr/hacking-the-flir-e4/
what did i do: I used a program called "Flir Install 2" and as in guide i did select "Set_RNDIS_permament.fif" and ran it. After that i restarted my camera by taking battery off and after loading something went wrong ill attach screenshots.
Photo where my flir shows cup: interface is frozen, camera doesnt react on any of buttons, only if i hold power button for 3-4 seconds its turning off.

What made you use a procedure intended for E4 v2.3.0 on your E6 v3.16.0 ?

Where did you get ""Flir Install 2" program? Is it an executable from Flir Tools or is it a python script ? Provide the exact name of this program with the extension (.exe or .py or whatever)

My bad. idk i saw people saying it works so i thought it will work for me.. im rookie. The flir install 2 programm is .exe

As i understood its only can use .fif files

Edit: Actually I think you need to rename .zip to .fif , than run. Still need to select the camera.

sorry, u mean .cmd to .fif?

Edit: also i dont really understand how to do this..

Edit 2: So another thing is that this FLIR app sees different IP or whats it idk look in screenshots..

Edit 3: I also have that "Remove_RNDIS_Permament" from the guide its .fif type
