Title: FLIR i3 missing spot cross hairs
Post by: AndyKeir on July 05, 2020, 12:35:46 am
Hi Folks,
I have a FLIR i3 which has been successfully upgraded to the i7 spec usinginformation from the PDF document on this site.
Everything is good ... increased resolution, additional measurement menu item, etc.
The only problem is that the spot cross hairs in the centre of the screen along with the corresponding spot temperature reading is now missing.
Selecting "spot" in the measurement menu makes no difference.
I have searched the forum for a solution but haven't found anything.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Have you checked all the changes carefully? Didn't forget the empty line at the end of the files?
I have no problems with my modified FLIR i3.

Peter

Hi Peter and thanks.
I did double check the content of the files and went back through the checksum steps to make sure I had it right.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by the empty line at the end of the files. Is that a CR/LF after the checksum line?

Yeah, it's a line break after the checksum. Without this newline, the files are not read in correctly and the changes have no effect.

Peter

Hi Peter. I checked the files. The config.cnf file was fine but the gui.cnf file was missing the blank line so I added it.
Unfortunately it hasn't made any difference.
I'm confident the files are being read as I have the higher resolution as well as the extra menu item however the cross hairs which used to be in the middle of the screen is missing.

Here are my changed files ...

Greatly appreciated Peter. I'll try these as soon as I have a chance.

... You need both files, conf and conf2 or gui and gui2 ...
Peter

I'm a bit confused by this. The original PDF document has just two files ... a modified conf.cfg and a newly created gui.cfg
Are both conf.cfg and conf2.cfg as well as gui.cfg and gui2.cfg meant to exist in the camera at the same time?
The original PDF document required the original conf.cfg file to be modified and then overwitten in the camera.

Do you have a copy of your "default.rsc" file?
That's the only other file I can think of which might affect this.
I loaded the files you uploaded and it hasn't made any difference.
I have the same firmware version as you and now the same conf.cfg, conf2.cfg, gui.cfg and gui2.cfg.
I have double checked the checksums and the file modified times/dates ... all good.
Everything works fine except no cross hairs. I have the additional "measurement" menu item and I have the higher 120 pixel resolution.
It's very strange!

Hi Peter ... and many thanks. Everything now works as it should.
I really don't know what the problem was but I went through the entire process again. I used your conf2/gui2 files again and the checksums were all the same as last time I tried. This time however when I reset/rebooted the camera I had my spot crosshairs back, the temperature reading in the corner of the screen and the additional menu items all actually work!

I am very grateful for your help with this. Very much appreciated. :D
