FLIR used a mid wave camera to observe the sun. Look at what they imaged....

Doubtless FLIR did all the calculations for the attenuations etc - and have a warehouse full of spare cameras in case they got it wrong.

My money is also on the ISS. I've long been a fan of legendary amateur telescopist Thierry Legault - if you haven't already seen his work, head over to http://www.astrophoto.fr/ (http://www.astrophoto.fr/) and prepare to be amazed. He's the guy who has taken photos of astronauts doing EVAs - from the ground. He is a past master of recording ISS passes in front of the sun or moon, though he usually works at visible wavelengths.
