FLIR VUE PRO just on iPad or Tablet

Hi All,
I am in need of this thermal imaging device:

But the price is a bit too much for me. So i was thinking i could maybe build one up myself.
So i am wondering if anyone else has ever build their own?
I am in need of one with a res of at least 640 x 512 and good temp Accuracy.
So possibly a FLIR VUE PRO plugged into a tablet. But i am wanting to know will the tablet power it, and how will i view/record/snapshot the thermal output.
