I previously produced a list of the thermal imaging cameras in my collection as a potential information resource for the Thermal Imaging sub forum members. I often provide information on the cameras that I own when such is requested.

The original thread listing the collection has become cumbersome so I have decided to start a new thread with the definitive list of camera models in my collection. This single list in this post will be kept up to date and an update post added to the thread to highlight a change. This should enable forum members to easily check whether I own a camera that interests them in some way.

I have worked on many of the cameras in this collection so can sometimes help with technical comment on the designs.

Frasers' Thermal Camera Collection - The Definitive List

Last update: 25/04/2021

Models in Alphabetical Order:

............

Diane Yang Technology DP-22
...........

Any good ?
Thinking about a new line to market........

Hello,

I own the Dian Yang DP-22 thermal imager.
I am interested in detailed information if you happen to have some.
There are lacks in the provided analysis software that I am trying to fix.

Best Regards

With regret, I cannot provide any information on the DP-22 beyond that which is in the public domain. Contact Dianyang for information on the camera and potential new image analysis software for it.

Electrophysics HotShot LT camera added to the collection.

A thermal camera core married to a PDA that is running Win CE. All in an ergonomic package.
The camera can produce its thermal survey reports internally using the Win CE report generator.

Unusual and interesting design.

Hi Fraser.  Thanks for your amazing past info on the HS324 Commander.  I have had one of these since 2010 and two days ago got it back from a friend who does wildlife surveys and it has a small problem.  I have read your previous work on these and need your help.  At switch on it has a display full of raster lines but after being left on with its Hot shoe and a charger and NiMH batteries for about 25 minutes it all clears and then it all works perfectly.  I presume this is some capacitor related issue but would welcome your expertise on these.  I am well retired but have an extensive background in electronics but am not knowledgeable on the tech in such cameras.  I am leaving it on for a few days in the hope the tantalum's will self heal but should I just bit the bullet and replace them all.  I would appreciate your thoughts.

Definitely replace all of the tantalum capacitors on the large control and power PCB. They tend to burn-up rather than heal in these units. I replace them all even if a unit is showing no issues.

Thanks for the quick response.  This unit is used for koala surveys which is a bit of a pain because it has no pseudo colour and the IR from tree canopies is bright until the late night cools the leaves.  Do you know if it is possible to change the software to include colour mapping.  Even just a single colour for the brightest would make life easier.   Just something from the wishlist and wondered if anyone had ever attempted it, if you know.  FLIR was unhelpful as expected given the units obsolete status .  I did have a backup copy of the software but lost that in a hard drive failure.  Don't suppose you have a copy, on the off chance or know where I can get one?  Current version is 03.04.10.

Lastly, the unit was left on charge for over 24 hours and works fine - so far.  Just waiting now to see if it remains so when off charge for a few days or longer.   I will change the Tantalum's regardless.  Do you know if the Milspec tantalums are worth the money - if I can source them, that is.

The main choice is between 'regular' and 'surge' rated tants, plus do not skimp on voltage ratings.

Any connected to input power that suddenly appears, need to be surge rated.  Classically that was AVX TPS series, but everyone does a similar type.
Basic AVX TAJ on a power in will go bang (like Raytheon BST cores.... oops).

Those on switch mode power supplies should be low series resistance, and again tend to be the TPS surge types for that reason alone, although these days big ceramics are often used.

Thx Bill.  I appreciate your experience.  What about Kemet tants?

Camera list brought up to date today. I have also noted any cameras that are non operational or have been re-homed. (Yes, I sometimes sell cameras from my collection)

Another FLIR S40 added to the collection. This one just needed an EVF repair (failed boost converter).
Another Guide MobIR AIR USB Type C dongle acquired by buying a scrap Fever screening kiosk module and extracting the dongle from it. Total cost was £30.
A Ulefone Armor 9 thermal imaging equipped mobile phone added to the collection and kept handy as it is a nice rugged phone.
I now have the Reporter Pro 8.1 and 8.3 software with licences.

That is all for now. I am repairing thermal cameras and laptops in my spare time. I will update the collection list as and when I find time.

Hmmm not really “back”. Just dropping in. I am concentrating on thermal camera and laptop repairs at the moment and I find it very rewarding and enjoyable to be “on the tools”  :)

I am doing some work on fever detection camera technology so I have obtained the Dahua TPC-HT2201 (256 x 192 pixels) and GuideIR T120H (120x90 pixels) handheld cameras. I already own several other brands and models of fever detection thermal cameras and these will add to my knowledge of the changes made to standard general use thermal cameras for greater accuracy.

A used Infiray T2 Pro has been procured. The extended surveillance range (thanks to its 13mm lens) will make it very useful for wildlife observation (not hunting). With its close focus capabilities it will also find uses in the lab.

There is an interesting review to be found here (in Russian) with plenty of images…….

https://search.app/KDfp7qc2CowbZpet6

I borrowed some images from that review to show the different T2 models and T2 Pro lens removed. For such a diminutive camera, it has a monster lens on it  :-+
