Guide Sensmart TIMO120/256 document set ?
« on: May 13, 2023, 11:49:06 am »
Does anyone have the Guide Sensmart TIMO core series document set or SDK please ?

I have a couple of modules coming to me that contain the TIMO120 and would like to experiment with them. I can contact Guide Sensmart but suspect they will ignore emails from hobbyists.

Documentation request sent to GuideIR. Hopefully it will not be ignored.

The two thermal imaging modules just arrived. Upon removing the rear cover I found more than I expected ! A complete, cased, GuideIR MobIR dongle camera with USB type C connector. There is an adapter PCB between the type C connector and the cable output.

Pictures of the design to follow but I attach a picture of the standard commercial MobIR unit.

This is a classic case of using a proven product and adapting its embodiment to meet a specific need. Why reinvent the wheel when it can be adapted to meet the requirement eh ?

The module investigation... pictures of what was found inside the custom thermal imaging module.

There are two PCB's in addition to the MobIR camera inside the metal module. One is populated with a Gigadevice ARM-M4 GD32E10x processor and the other provides an optical sensor. It is possible that the the Gigadevice GD32E acts as a local host for the MobIR camera to convert the USB C to a data format compatible with the custom host used in the intended deployment. I would have expected USB-C to be suitable for most hosts but this is a custom solution so who knows  :-// and I do not have a host to examine.

The modules cost me £18 each so the MobIR camera dongles that they contain are quite a nice surprise  :-+

For those interested, I attach some pictures of the Dahua modules that contain the MobIR cameras.

The camera is actually called the MobIR AIR according to the Android App and it is the same as the CB360 used for Covid 19 screening. This means that its has a restricted temperature measurement range, but enhanced measurement accuracy. Neither of these are particularly important to me in my use of the cameras. The TIMO120 core is offered in standard and fever screening models but I do not know if it is possible to switch between modes or they are fixed at time of manufacture/calibration. if Guide provide me with the requested information, I may discover more about this.

I have tested the cameras with both the standard MobIR and fever screening CB360 android applications. Whilst both work with the camera, only the CB360 APP provided temperature measurement. The MobIR APP just reported "-19.1C" at all times but the normal scene image was displayed.

Guide provide Windows PC software for the MobIR camera on their web site. I have downloaded it but have yet to test its interaction with the Fever Screening version of the MobIR camera. I will report back here when I do.

The original system from which I have harvested these camera modules is as detailed below and I include a picture of the system.

"Dahua DHI-ASI7213X-T1 thermal temperature Station with face mask recognition"

I wanted a TIMO120 core to test, I gained two complete USB-C MobIR cameras via these Dahua modules. A good result in my book  :-+

The Windows software turns out to be only for image analysis and not direct driving of the camera dongle.

Some investigation has revealed that the camera dongle I have is a a version of the LC130 OEM/Industrial thermal imaging thermal camera. It is called the CB360 and has a temperature range of 20C to 50C, with stated enhanced measurement accuracy within that range of +/-0.5C. It is primarily designed for human body thermography in its supplied configuration. Whether that configuration may be changed, I have yet to discover. The enhanced accuracy would normally suggest a more 'focussed' calibration routine that covers just the required temperature range. That said, 2-point calibration at 20C and 50C would normally be enough to lock the radiance to temperature curve to an adequate accuracy across a far greater temperature range. Much depends upon whether the TIMO120 core permits a change of measurement range. An SDK would certainly help to answer that question.

I shall be asking GuideIR for the CB360 and LC130 SDK's ..... wish me luck  ;D

I attach screen captures of the LC130 and CB360 pages on the Guide website. The CB360 datasheet link leads the reader to the LC130 datasheet as they are the same except for measurement range and accuracy.

I have received the document set and SDK from GuideIR for the CB360 and LC160  :-+

I am very impressed with the speed of response and support provided by their CS team  :-+ :-+
