How to set up a RNDIS connection: E30bx to Windows 10 laptop?
« on: January 29, 2018, 01:29:51 pm »
Hi all-

Been traveling and away from my E30bx upgrade for a few days.  I've done quite a bit of reading but am still 'stuck at the beginning' on how to get my camera to talk to my laptop using RNDIS.  Please let me start with one question and we can move on from there:

It's a Win 10 laptop and I have read conflicting (or at least confusing) comments regarding whether RNDIS can even be done.  Is it simply no longer possible with Win 10?  Do I need to use an older PC with Win 7 or something?

I've looked all over my device manager settings and do not find anything at all labeled RNDIS...

Thanks.

Is the camera in RNDIS mode?
If so, it should show up as a network adapter.

You may have to download a diff RNDIS driver.

Hit the "start/windows" key....type "RNDIS".....hit "enter"...you should be able to go from there. Scan anything with your "AV" before you install it.

Let me show you the messages I get when I try to connect.  It appears I am close but not quite there yet?

First, I've got a booted Win10 laptop and a booted E30bx - they are not connected to each other yet
Then, I set the camera to RNDIS mode using the hidden menu
Finally, I connect the USB cable and get the following messages in sequence.

What do you need RNDIS for?

You need to update the driver buddy. Should just be a case of clicking a few "ok"s as it takes you through the process.

Well, it seems I needed to upgrade something, but it appears it was the camera that did the trick.

RNDIS is working now; see attached screen grab from FileZilla showing the directory structure of the camera on the right side.  I did not change anything on my PC but I did upgrade the camera from 1.36 to 2.23 (files courtesy of Fraser, thank you sir).

And now the connection works fine (shrugs).  Thank you all for the input and assistance.
