Ulefone Power Armor 18T: anyone owns this phone?
« on: March 11, 2023, 08:53:22 am »
Hello,

I am considering the Ulefone Power Armor 18T as my next smartphone.

Before you think I am mad by posting this question under thermal imagining: this smartphones comes with a Flir Lepton 3.5.

My question is: does anyone own this device and what is your experience with it as a daily smartphone? I know it is eavy and big, but that doesn't worry me. I am more concerned about Android usability and overall performace.

My searches for reviews and user opinions have produced mixed results, which is why I am asking here.

Thanks,
Vitor

I don't have a Ulefone specifically but have helped friends & family out who bought phones from random second-tier Chinese manufacturers that looked like they had lots of cool features for a better price than more mainstream models.  Problem with a lot of these is that they'll get maybe one firmware upgrade ever, to fix some of the most obvious bugs, and after that they're abandonware as the next model comes out and they shift their focus to that.  So check their history of firmware updates to see whether you're going to end up going in via adb to flash some dubious image from a web site in Romania that claims to fix the dropped-calls issue.

This is exactly why I asked. The phone has great specs, espcially the Flir thermal camera and a special microscope camera. Both would really be useful for me for hobby applications. Also, I do enjoy huge batteries, if they can keep heavy use for more than one or two days. I wouldn't mind the size as a trade-off.

I thought that there were at least a few users on this forum with this model who could tell me more about every day use and how many bugs there are.

Vitor
