new Flir One G3 / Flir One Pro and current Flir SDK
« on: September 05, 2017, 02:07:25 pm »
Flir has not released an update for the SDK to support the new Flir One G3.

Are there any users in this forum, who bought the new Flir One G3 camera?
I am interested in whether the camera works also with the old SDK.

Thanks

I have one and none of the apps designed for the Gen2 work with it, despite being the same resolution.

Sadly this is FLIR marketing department at work again.

The new business plan for the Gen 3 cameras involves setting capabilities via software so the Pro is more capable than the standard model. The fact that the standard model is running a low resolution Lepton 2 should have been enough, but the marketing bods want to encourage people to 'upgrade' from the Gen 2 to the Gen3 Pro in order to gain more capable software (it will be further developed over time).

The FLIR ONE G2 was the 'bargain basement' FLIR response to the thermal imaging dongle market. They are now employing pretty standard marketing tactics with the Gen 3.

Flir One G3 shit. The image is worse. The frame rate is very low. It looks like 2 Hertz. I tested the Flir One G3 yesterday. I was very upset.

I can attest to the lousyness of the flir one g3 (for Android). I got to try one about a month ago on a Pixel XL, but wow. The lagginess of the app, the extremely low fps, plus buggy software in general put me off. I'm glad I didn't waste any money on it. I was extremely disappointed as I was excited seeing this come out with the specs I saw.
