Recommendation For An Easy To Use Thermal Camera?

I'm trying to use thermal cameras to do occupancy detection and height measurement. I was working with a FLIR Lepton Camera module, but it keeps crashing on me and I either get a red screen or a black screen with a red box.

I'm running out of time and really need some help so if someone, anyone on here could please give me a recommendation on an easy to use thermal camera (maybe something with USB that I can just plug in) I would be really grateful.

For 'just plug in' you are really suggesting a video out camera.  From your comments it is the 'just USB' that is your problem as that then involves computers and they dislike what is plugged into them and then crash.  Thermal cameras do not crash, thermally sensitive plug in dongles do.

I am considering the Flir E4 at €999  or the ThermalExpert Q1 Plus with an extra 13mm Lens at the same price as E4.

What is your opinion people.  I also consider the Hack for the E4 in order to "upgrade" it.

TE Q1 Plus already comes with 13mm f/1.0 lens so you probably meant additional 6.3mm lens?

So Flir F4 converted to E8+ or TE Q1 with a pair of lens..

Flir E4:
+ convenience; you can just grab it and shoot at any time; no need for attaching it to the smartphone
+ easier to use because of hardware buttons
+ no need for the latest android smartphone
+ you can use Flir software for analysing images
+ robust
+ trustworthy measurements

TE Q1:
+ better (cleaner) images (especially with f/1.0 lens)
+ smaller package; easier to carry around
+ exchangeable lens
+ SDK (for Android,  Windows and Linux available on request)
- software (android and windows) is still in early beta (IMHO)...
- more delicate hardware even though build quality is really good
- less reliable measurements (T.E. sometimes shows humans at 40*C and sometimes at 37*C)

I bought TE Plus because I will treasure it with my life :P and I prefer image quality over robustness of the device.
If I would need something for field work I would probably chose E4 (or not).  ;D
