Title: SC6000/SC4000 Software
Post by: peppy88 on July 12, 2023, 03:58:05 pm

These cameras seem to be different that the later SC6xxx cameras

I use ResearchIR 4 MAX with my SC4000. The SC4000/6000 camera was originally supplied with Researcher 2.8 SR-1

ResearchIR 4 MAX may be obsolete since the release of Studio and even used HASP Licence dongles are expensive. I may have a spare new genuine ResearchIR 4 Max licence dongle but it would not be cheap.

Studio does not appear to support the older SC4000 and SC6000 cameras.

If you get a SC4000 or SC6000 you will also want to get the “Big GUI” to configure and calibrate it. There is also a special USB driver (not the common FLIR USB driver) The GUI has a hidden manufacturers mode that provides access to the deep configuration of the camera. This capability is not available to users in later models of cameras in the series.

Thanks that is good to know. Is the Big GUI software camera specific? I know alot of the times on the used markets the cameras don't come with any of the software.

Yes, it is specific to the SC4000 and SC6000 and is only available from FLIR. Be aware that FLIR consider the SC4000/6000 as end of life and available support varies…. that includes providing the software utilities and USB drivers.

Fraser,

Do you happen to have the Big GUI software and would it work for any SC4000/SC6000 camera? Let me know thanks

With regret, it is a controlled release utility due to the DoD status of the SC4000/SC6000 cameras. The only way for you to obtain it is to contact FLIR customer support and answer their security questions. Sorry I cannot help.

Yes  :) After I had provided all the information they needed about my camera and intended use, they provided what I needed. They put me in touch with their specialist cooled camera support team in Paris, France.

Gotcha. Does the software take care of dead pixels as well?

Yes. It provides the full factory calibration capabilities, including NUC flat field, dead pixel and multi-point Radiance to temperature unit conversion curve alignment. Basically anything the factory could do, you can do with the “Big GUI” as it is a factory utility.

Is this the software p/n you have to request:
https://flir.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3382/~/information-for-obsolete-sc4000%2Fsc6000

Or do you have to specially as for "Big GUI"

No it is not the SDK.

FLIR call the configuration utility that is built into Researcher 2.8 “Small GUI” and that has limited capabilities. FLIR called the more capable Science configuration GUI they”Big GUI” to indicate that it was a more capable utility. The manufacturers mode is hidden behind a key sequence and password on the Big GUI’ as that mode contains configuration settings that can really mess up the camera if not used with good knowledge of their effect. Be warned, US Support staff may not know what “Big GUI” is as they are not very knowledgeable of the SC4000 and SC6000. The Paris, France, Support Team will know about it though.

Note that the later cameras do not have the Big GUI as FLIR did not want users to be able to carry out such advanced activities without their involvement. This makes the SC4000 and SC6000 very desirable cameras  :-+
