Title: Seek Reveal Pro
Post by: andrewusher on August 19, 2021, 06:17:47 pm
Hi,
I was under the impression that the Reveal Pro exported out radiometric data, but an email from support says otherwise?

"Thank you for contacting Seek Thermal.  At this time, Seek Thermal does not offer post-processing software for its OEM cameras.  Moreover, please note that Seek's hand-held products (branded goods) do not contain radiometric data and as such cannot support post-processing analysis."

Andy.

This is correct. The Reveal series do not save true Radiometric image files. They save an image file that contains metadata detailing selected spot temperatures only. The Reveal Pro does offer a “Radiometric mode” but this relates to the way that the image is presented to the user. The two options are non-Radiometric RGB that has image enhancement applied that can degrade image Radiometric accuracy. The other option is Radiometric mode that does not apply the “pretty picture” image enhancements that degrade the RGB modes accuracy.

The Reveal camera holds saved images in its flash memory where they may be accessed via the cameras built in viewer or using a standard photographic image viewer via USB link to a host computer. There is no computer interaction possible with the Reveal series beyond Mass Memory Storage access mode.

Assume you are talking about the Seek Reveal 3-page TIFF file here, the second page of which is temperatures. You can provide a palletized picture of this page if you develop and use your own "home-brew" software. But, as you say, Seek provides no software to support their own camera.

Yes. It seems so strange that Seek Thermal did not produce analysis software to extract full Radiometric data from the Reveal Pro Radiometric TIFF image type. They will soon be left behind by Asia based manufacturers who do include such analysis software.

Yeah,
The dont seem interested either. Ill be returning it, I like the look of the INFIRAY C200. May take a punt on it, as pretty cheap.
I couldn't see if the HTI dumped the radiometric data or not.

Careful on the C200 as IIRC it does not provide a USB link. You would need the C210.
