Title: Seek Termal-app with latest January 2.1.9.1 a fraction of previous performance!
Post by: DaneLaw on January 24, 2020, 01:57:16 am
Hi guys.
Be careful updating to their latest iOS release, named 2.1.9.1
I went out an purchase an Ipad 6th gen for our Seek Pro FF, back in 2018 and been happy with it these last 2 years, but here with the latest update (that was automatic) and which are labeled "Seek Thermal performance update to improve your seek experience"

The latest Januar 2020 Seek iOS 2.1.9.1 has tumbled the performance on my device to a fraction of previous and removed like 50% of the screen real-estate.
Here is a screen dump-picture and how the app looked until a few weeks ago December 2019 and before and how it should look..
(First picture below)
Here a screen dump from Januar 2020 with their latest 2.1.9.1 App (iOS Ipad) and update only a few weeks old, that sadly installed automatically.
(Second picture below, that sadly now crop's like 50% of the screen, and with double borders.)

I have tried Seek Ticket support and got a response after 6 days., but the person who is handling this ticket, obviously didn't want to look the pictures I uploaded, and just closed it with a statement that tablet aren't supported and they dont support for tablets and closed my ticket so reply it meeh... (I had hoped they perhaps had messed up the two versions)
So likely need to write their email personally to show them all their promo about iPad support and they even highlight it themself, and also on Itunes (Third picture below), and iOS app store with both iPhone and Ipad app and the iPad have been fully supported with a full-blown great app these last 2½ years.

Does anybody have access to a release before this 2.1.9.1.? (like 2.1.8? or previous, 2.1.7 / 2.1.6 / 2.1.5 / 2.1.3) ( a search on Google for the Seek thermal app (.IPA) didn't come up with any third-party hosting-sites of the previous version, all direct to latest 2.1.9.1 that is a few weeks old.)
It would be highly appreciated.

The thermal resolution is 320x240 no matter to what size it is resized on your tablet. Unless you have a reason to believe you see less thermal pixels or decreased sensitivity  it's nothing but a little bug.

#1 ?? you don't understand the issue.??
nobody is talking about thermal resolution triplex??, but the footage and live view and the hole interface, as I like most take my recording by screen recordings to have access to all the bells and whistle while recording FF-footage.

What minor bug are you talking about.?.. ref "Its nothing but a minor bug" .?   do you even own the camera, and do you experience the issue yourself?? and most importent do you have the older app.?? or are you simply guessing in lack of knowledge??

I like most use and record the thermal camera on the fly by screen-recordings, too have access to the "tools and palettes" while recording Seeks FF-footage, - and here it is a huge issue if you lose 50 to 70% of the screen and only the inner-center is visible, like above screendumps are displaying.
Here a normal recording and the norm the last 3 years.
https://youtu.be/Im1_Dyf69to?t=69 (https://youtu.be/Im1_Dyf69to?t=69)

This would be a fraction of previous if its only 40% of the inner-center that is visible, so your "its nothing but a minor bug" and then refer to "it is only 320x240 sensor" as an excuse, for the issue I'm displaying.. simply have no relevance, and this is why I'm asking do you understand what I'm asking in #0-topic and the issue I'm displaying and do you own the camera and perhaps have access to the older app??

Any app-mirroring IPA-sites with a wide app-portefolio to perhaps include Seek older iOS-app releases, a freaking shitload of them on Android, but iOS (IPA files) not so much.

OK so a software developer made a choice you don't like.
Ever used MS Windows? gets worse with every update.

However the 'early' version you show has text and icons obscuring the thermal image, which others might not like.
Your images are incorrectly indicating the app boundary as compared to the image boundary.

Can you change it to landscape thermal images ?  That might help a bit as the 'new' icons seem to be above & below and they run out of screen height.

No I do not have one, the software or fruit based computers  :-DD

Let me bill it for you.  :-+  since it doesn't look like you get it..the text is mine (added after the fact hopefully to paint it clear) but not clear enough..
the temp elevator on the side' is editable and is only down to temp-align feature, all palettes is free space, like you can also see in the above video...
and what do you mean by boundary-lines not correct... please look again.. it is double wall after this update, so you do get a lot wrong, and likely down to not having the product in question..

- and this is not about decisions you don't like... this is likely the tablet support, being removed or perhaps mobile edition been faulty inserted as the iPad version.
but what-ever. it seems you have some fruity issues to work out' so likely not your ballpark or something you can do jack with if you don't have the device, or are even familiar with the product.
and if a software developer has humped YOU in the past, bummer - but that doesn't make it alright to undermine a product, that have been working brilliantly for 3 years, quite the contrary.
and what has Windows to do with Seek iOS app.. come on' if you feel Windows get worse with every new release..then downgrade if Windows 95' rock your boat.

Wicked how few, IPA-hosting sites there are.. on Android you can literally find every Seek-release, but on iOS (IPA) nahh not so much,.. in regards to versions 2.1.8 or 2.1.7 or just 2.1.6 or 2.1.5
it's the release that landed a few weeks ago 2.1.9.1 according to release-info' that is screwed with IPad use in mind so turn off automatic updates if you have one of these, as it is a bxxxx to go back...

You said that the camera has "fraction of performance" after update. No, it has nothing to do with performance, as Bill W explained it to you that developer made a choice you don't like and it has absolutely nothing to do with performance, it's not meant to be recorded by screen recording so it's on you. No one is going to help you when the only response you give to people is insults, gl with everything.

Can't you simply crop in your post production? The app is scaling the video up to the size of the iPad screen. You can do the same thing in your video editing software. It looks like the video might be 16:9, did you change that setting in the Seek App by chance?

Well there is a good point out of this rather aggro post. Backup the Seek Thermal APK if you have one of these cameras. There is nothing to say that one day they might not unpublish it or nerf it somehow.

This is true of any software.  Not all "upgrades" are upgrades!
