seek thermal xr- otg connection plug broken
« on: July 18, 2018, 10:00:21 am »
Hi,
I have a seek thermal xr and after trying to plug in a musb OTG to thunderbird adapter ( I know stupid) now 1 of the pins is pushed back into body.
After trying to flick out the pin, 1 pin is now broken and the device has stopped working,
Any one know where I can buy a new one or a replacement, or should I just but a lead with a musb OTG plug and solder and glue to fit the thermal body.
I don't want to waste this excellent device.
Thanks for your help.
TT

Farnell (Newark in the USA) sell several types of male Micro USB plugs at less than. £1 each.

http://uk.farnell.com/w/c/connectors/usb-connectors-adapters/prl/results?st=Micro+USB+plug

The plugs are the same whether for OTG or non OTG use..... 5 pin.

There may be similar chassis mount plugs on eBay but finding them amongst all the other micro USB stuff can be a challenge :) Plus quality varies.

Amazon also has this https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-10PCS-5-Pin-Connector-Plastic/dp/B014GMP4E4/ref=olp_product_details/146-2516323-7178658?_encoding=UTF8&me=, which might be easier to hack into the existing connector mount.

It might also be worth asking Seek how much they would charge to replace it (don't forget to add shipping costs).
I am not opposed to exercise, unless it is an exercise in futility.
