Hi, i've come across a thermal imaging module from from an ex-army auction.
I believe it was manufactured by Thales, and it was installed to a Stryker as part of the Protector RWS package.
I've been able to find out that its video output is NTSC, and it communicates via a RS422/RS485 transceiver (MAX3490), which I believe is connected to one of the pads on the underside of the Altera FPGA.
In the linked video you can see it powering on, going through its focus cycle and stopping. I have been unable to figure out what protocol can be used to communicate with it over the serial line.
Does anyone have any information that might help me figure this out?
I've gone to the effort of extracting the flash to see if i can figure anything out, but there's really nothing in there that helps me in any way.
Does anyone have any information that might help me? for example, information regarding the "TIM family interface"?
I've had a few theories about it being controlled by MODBUS, or some PTZ camera protocol, but i've not really had any luck.
The camera never seems to send any responses, nor emit anything over its serial line.
