The story of a Radiance 1 camera and Frasers quest to find information on it
<< < (13/13)
MrSheep:
Was able to get RTools to work with my Radiance 1! I used a VM of Windows 7 32bit as I dont think the drivers work on 64 bit machines.

The cooler timer is in minutes and translated to hours I am at 1422.76 hours. So that is still pretty good. IIRC the datasheet says 8000hours MTTF.
Will post more when I find out what I can do with this software.

I still need to figure out the pinout for the motorized lens connector. On the Radiance HS/Galileo it is way more simple as it has only 7 pins. The Radiance 1 has way more pins

MrSheep able to write 12v Linear with Cardware7 on an XP 32bit pci riser card Ricoh chip and probably a few others of the 5v variety .

Not sure why the other guy had problems, worked on two different older 12v write cards for me and still going strong on the original 10mb card I used.

Hi Fraser, what an amazing topic and journey on the Radiance 1! Read all the posts with great interest.

Here at my company we have not just one, but three of the Radiance 1 cameras... I'm not sure that all of them work, but one does for sure, and I was working on interfacing with it yesterday when I came across your post. It's incredibly difficult to find any kind of information for these cameras, quite frustrating when companies get bought out, merged, etc, and lose all their support documentation...

--- Quote ---Sadly I could not get the software to communicate with my cameras. If you have access to a Radiance 1 and get the software working, I would love to hear about it.

We have some custom control software for it written by one of our engineers several decades ago in C++ and recently ported to JS, which I'd be happy to share with you. It doesn't do a ton, but it does the basics, E.G. manage contrast/brightness, change NUC/LUT/ITT modes etc. If there's certain functionality you're looking for we can probably figure out a way by probing some of the unused functions.

We'd have great interest in obtaining the manual for it to understand the camera better. If you'd be willing to share it, maybe we can do a trade?
