im a bit late to the party but i got my hands on a TAU that someone blew up by not reading the manual  :palm:
i just had to pull the microbolometer die out to see how it looks under a microscope.

full image is 80mb.. this is a slightly compressed (20mb) version stitched out of 4 pics (overlap error may be visible)

It is a work of art  :-+ Thank you for sharing.

Many of the delicate pixels appear to have made a bid for freedom  :D

Now this is one of the reasons I love this forum.
LOVELY image showing all the ROIC details and pixel array.
Can you share details of the rig you used to image this?

@Fraser
Yes its very fragile, i disassembled the thing a while ago and stored it on my "shiny electronics stuff to look at" shelf and tried to wipe off some dust. bad idea  |O

@ArsenioDev
Its just a Sony a6700 and a Laowa 25mm 2.5-5x ultra macro lens at 2.5x with a ring light. mounted on a vertical axis to fine adjust the focus.
probably could have been done much cheaper like a old microscope lens, 3d printed adapter and a used aps-c camera.

im building myself a motorized z axis for focus stacking together with a xy-stage right now to make it easier.
