Hi all first post here as there looks to be an interesting and active community and I'm hoping to tap into any dos / don'ts re the unit i traded for...

Yesterday I acquired a fairly tired but working HS 307 command pro with the 65mm lens and carry pack etc.
Included were most of the components listed in the 'what you get' list when new...except the SD card.
It did come with a dvd but no drivers? and Windoze (10) doesn't seem to recognise this camera via USB.
It is an archaic unit by modern standards i'm sure but it works and I didnt have to spend ££££££££ to get it so yipee and game on.

The batteries fitted are 2500Mah so not upto spec but enough to power the unit up for now. I'll see about getting something better and upto spec, 2700Mah if i recall ok

A cursory wave around of the unit shows it fires up in the specified timeframe and focuses ok (though there is some slop in the focus ring)  and can display the white/black/red options ok...the 2x function also seems ok. The hot shoe doesn't seem to work for charging as it doesn't ever flash green and the batteries don't charge. I haven't tried the video out option yet so no view on that working/not.

The original charger seems to work with just over 12v displayed on my el cheapo multimeter. Not sure which pins to check on the inside of the show to see if its supplying voltage to the main unit.
Didnt want to just start poking probes in without knowing what i might break before hand :-)

The SD card was missing so I tried a 2GB microSD in an adapter but its not recognised. attempting a photo button gives the 'card not installed' message.
I suspect that formatting will 100% be required but reading some of the older threads this looks like it may involve some black magic rather than just a menu option selection

....so anyone with experience of these units that would like to share any useful hints tips dos donts spare parts or laughter then all input welcome.

my only previous experience of thermal has been an old (and I mean OLD) Raytheon W1000  which looked like it had seen fairly rough service over a prolonged period...it worked but whined terribly.

anyway thoughts welcome :-)

'Patrol' version does not take pictures, but 'Command' should work simply and normally - with a real old SD card.

It should present as a simple USB camera - DCIM folders etc.

See manual online.  There isn't much clever inside beyond the Tau core.

Its I think the Command rather than the patrol version.
In devices and Printers in windoze is says Commander Pro under unspecified-devices next to  H-series camera which flags a problem
The sd card is visible to windoze as it asks if I'd like format it
depressing the picture button gets the message indicating card not there rather that unsupported function
pretty sure its commander pro

The DVD that came with the unit had Avalon and I've downloaded Boson v1.5 from FLIR but I've not been able to use either.
.....while windoze can see there is an 'other devices' .... H-series camera connected where there is the '!' in device manager implying a driver issue  :--

no drivers in the dvd that came with the unit ....feels like I'm missing a driver disc....vaguely reminiscent of days when installing a modem was a real chore   ho hum

unit works but I need to get the connection working to sort the mem card and format / build folder structure  and set the date time stamp etc

anyone got one of these connected to windows 10 and connecting for downloads etc?
