Title: Thermal Master P2 - Discussion - Anyone else own one ? Any issues ?
Post by: Fraser on December 09, 2024, 01:23:51 pm
I have a Thermal Master P2 that I am currently testing for a review that will appear on this forum.

Initial testing of the camera dongle has had mixed results and I would like to hear from other owners of this camera to share experiences. This Thermal Master  “P2” is not the same as the Infiray P2 or P2 Pro. It is not primarily intended to be used for PCB work and no close-up lens is provided. That said, I will, of course, include any PCB observation capabilities in my review, just as with any thermal camera I test.

The Thermal Master P2 uses an APP that offers their “X3” image enhancement software. I can state that this does remove the usual pixel related “stair step” effect when viewing angles edges or lines. I am seeing some weird “mosaic” like blotchy effects when viewing exterior targets, such as trees and the X3 mode appears to make matters worse. Has anyone else seen this effect ? It could be the result of over enthusiastic noise reduction software on complex detail scenes ? Thermal Master seem keen to hear about any issues with the camera or App so it would be good if I can collate any user experiences so that I may pass these on to them for possible fixes (if required) in future App releases.
