Help spec'ing a high-end system
« on: October 17, 2016, 01:28:15 pm »
Hi,

I know this is my first post (hi all!), and could have chosen an easier topic, but now I'm in the middle of this, so here it goes...

I need to spec a system that will include two cooled cameras that should work in the 1mile - 7mile range. Both should provide full radiometric information.

The minimum specifications for these cameras would be:

- LWIR:
  • 640x512 MCT,15um pitch
  • NETD lower than 23mK @ 293K
  • continuous zoom. I'm guessing 25-250 lens would work

- MWIR:
  • 640x512 15um pitch
  • NETD lower than 20mK @ 293K
  • continuous zoom. I'm guessing 25-250 lens would work

I'm looking for manufacturers that could provide these cameras and if some of you know about it, what would be the typical price for each of this cameras? The IR detectors I've been looking at come from sofradir, and they have a child company that manufactures cameras and a couple of them, might fit in.

Any other manufacturers (besides flir, I suppose) that I should be looking at?

Thanks![/list]

Infratec do amazing high-end cameras - from the demos we had of their cameras, they were superior to FLIR in almost every way. However, they are quite expensive! One of the high end cameras we looked at were about €100,000!!!

This camera fits your spec for MWIR:

This one possibly for LWIR:

IIRC the latter goes for about €30,000

They do look really nice indeed...

Yes, this camera looks really good, and specwise, it fits the requirements. The issue that caught my eye is that the lenses that appear in the datasheet don't look like what I need.

They only offer fixed focal length lenses, and I need either a continuous zoom optic system or a multiple field of view optics (this is preferred). Something that would work is switchable UWFOV, WFOV, MFOV and NFOV lenses.

Sadly, it is not a cooled camera and it doesn't have an optic system that will work either  :scared: :scared:

Thanks for answering
