Title: Wanted: pyrometer for measuring small objects, <10mm, for hobby use
Post by: dangerousamateur on March 01, 2020, 10:41:08 pm
I'm looking for a rather cheap pyrometer for home experimentation, chemistry and RC Hobby stuff. So some 0-500°C range would be OK for me.

Important for me is that I can
-measure things of small size, like a transistor on an electronic speed controller from short distance, the sensing area must be small enough, not just through the angle

-adjust the lambda value

-check battery temperatures around 50°C with an accuracy of some 2°C

I don't have a proper reference to calibrate it myself, so I should be usable out of the box.

Could you recommend something that's at least "OK" to use, preferably not in the price range of Fluke?
I'm not shy to order in China... Any well proven devices to recommend?

Do you really need to do it through infrared radiation?

I am asking because cheap+small+accurate+range+chemistry ("inside" an opaque fluid ?) scream for thermocouple rather than pyrometer.

I have a paint I know to have a lambda of 0,96.

My idea is to mark the measuring points with that paint.

For example battery, motor and speed controller of an RC-Car are marked with a blob of paint at crucial points.
A rather cumbersome measurement with a thermocouple.

For chemistry, OK you're right.
