Do you use a AC power control center thing?
« on: September 25, 2025, 05:12:46 pm »
You know those old school AC power control centers you can plop a monitor on top? If so, how big is it? Does it look awesome?

I found a big plain one at Goodwill, but now I want a fancy 1980s themed one, like this

I mean, doesn't everyone want one like this?

I do use a couple of them in the lab.  They are 12" wide and look pretty boring  :-//

The first one has some test equipment plugged in that uses too much standby power, an IEC cord, and a power strip.  The last 2 items are for when I'm working on some equipment and I want to be able to make sure it's turned off (especially if it has a soft power switch).

The second power center is connected to my soldering equipment, so I can make sure it's all turned off when I leave.

I bought a couple of them a few years ago for use on my test bench.  I use them with equipment that either doesn't have a power switch or has the switch on the back.
