Tandy 1100fd, What LCD does it use?
« on: April 17, 2024, 11:25:20 am »
made in 1989, I can't find any teardown that shows any precise information, like...
  • mechanical dimensions
  • what interface it uses at the signal level
it's only known that it's a grayscale CGA LCD  :-//

I used to own one. I think I still have the technical reference manual somewhere in the bunker.
IIRC it was a twisted nematic hitachi chipset.

Display: LCD super-twisted nematic, green Chip Set MN5504 LCD CGA emulation     ???  from vintage computer

The 1100 FD has an 80 x 25, high-contrast liquid crystal display
with 640 x 200 resolution.  The fold-over display measures
approximately nine inches diagonally and closely resembles the
aspect ratio of conventional video monitors.

if you find the time, can you open, and measure the STN LCD-panel size?
