Why would this really large piece of plate glass have a ZX81 image bonded to it?

A dear friend found this at a street market & gifted it to me. Has anyone ever seen such a thing & is it simply a piece of decorative retro geek tech art or an actual tool or something for the infamous Sinclair computer?

Interesting, I had never seen, nor heard of, anything like this before.

I noticed something (in the lower-right corner of the picture) that I noticed on my first ZX-80 back in 1981: the PCB has an option to use either one 2016 2K RAM chip (as shown,) or a pair of 2114 1K x 4 RAM chips. My kit came with the 2114 RAM chips, and unfortunately I did not have a 2016 chip. Thanks for reminding me that my memory was correct.

Wow, cool, although it would scare the crap outta me that lump of glass just waiting to break, even if it's tempered. Cutting boards where i come from are usually recycled demolition New Zealand kauri offcuts.... no chance of breaking! Reminds me of iPad video!

Similarly, for around £9.99 plus postage, around £3.35:
