Yeah, the brexiters haven't really stopped anything from being possible, they have just managed to make it all less convenient and more expensive. Awkward sods! :D

I think these processes are made complex on government web sites just to keep the immigration consultants in business. Its government. You know its corrupt. The only question is how corruption manifests itself.

Many people's names are attached to that idea, and in many cases it serves you well when trying to figure out what is going on. However, in so much activity related to governments you eventually find who made a pile of cash, and realise neither malice nor incompetence was at work. It was profit masquerading as incompetance, so the above rule would deflect attention.
