Cellsafe citing EEVblog #201 and #202
« on: September 23, 2013, 05:11:02 am »
I'm sick of hearing about these products that are "Proven by Science" to reduce the SAR from mobile phones and then I came across this, cellsafe using Dave's videos to show how the testing is done.
http://www.cellsafe.com.au/inside-emc-technology-s-melbourne-laboratory-testing

Surely these "Patent Protected Technology" products are bunk.

Edit: I'm an idiot. I scroleld down to the videos and didn't even look at the rest of the page.

Time for Dave to quietly add some annotations to those two videos expressing his opinion about his videos being used to endorse that product.

They probably wont even notice the change unless they watch the entire video again.

Wow, retarded product of the week! It might very well be blocking the signal, but there's still an obvious flaw. In order to stop what's going into your head, you would need to put the thing on the side of the phone facing your head. As it's intended to be used, all it will do -- assuming the outside of the phone is facing a base station -- is to block the signal and force the phone to transmit at a higher power, potentially increasing the SAR.  :palm:

What would be really cool is if Dave could substitute the videos with his foil hat episode :)

The problem with these types of shonky products, is that they quite likely what they claim on the surface. i.e. reduce radiation in a certain direction.
Of course that has absolutely nothing to do if it actually make a difference or not to your health, body, or whatever other bunk they claim (I don't even want to read it their page, I've seen enough of these things before)

It would be nice if youtube had a feature to block embedding for certain web sites.
Of course I could just disable embedding for that video, but then other sites with it embedded would be banned too.

Their test results are crazy too, they show a 70% reduction when used on one side of the head and 94% reduction on the other, how could the side of the head make such a difference? To top it off the 70%/90% swing swaps for different frequencies.

Or whatever, how many websites even embed those videos? Just disable embedding and if theres a problem just tell them to link to the YT page.

These are also embedded on http://www.eevblog.com/ and if embedding is either on or off, then there is a problem. (just stating the obvious)

Although I'm not very sure, is it possible to use custom thumbnail on that videos stated don't buy that dodgy product  >:D, so that message will be seen at the 1st static image of the video before user click to play it ?

I imagine it will look like these :  :-DD

Once they stopped using it, it should be easy to restore it back as before right ?
