Features changing even in old versions
« on: September 22, 2025, 08:00:58 am »
Recently I noticed that SCH List panel became useless. It doesn't list the properties of the parts. In my workflow, I used this to mass set up components. For example set the parameters for a certain value, or to edit them based on their safety related aspects.
This suddenly stopped working from one day to another. I don't remember updating between versions.
I have an older 23 version installed on an other PC. And the feature stopped working on that also.

I have no idea how they can take away features from old versions. Was this something that was computed online, and we just weren't told about it? I'm not even going to start an argument that something that we bought and paid for suddenly doesn't work. Probably because they want to upsell a subscription that costs more every month than buying other software.
I'm pissed off. And I cannot even ask about it, because we only pay about a thousand euros a year for perpetual license, and that doesn't get support of course.

Works here and license is expired. You need to provide a screenshot and more details.

If you are mass editing components that is available via Tools -> Parameter manager.
Profile -> Modify profile -> Look and Layout ->  Don't show users' signatures

I get properties here with 22.2 and 22.3, but no parameters.

Mind, it has a mind of its own: If you start off with select all and click, say, 'text string' then even if you choose 'view selected' and pick an actual part you only get the columns for the text string (x1, y1, Orientation, Mirrored). Only way out seems to be restarting to get rid of the text string entry.

Maybe a screenie of what you get and what you want could help?

you have a filter active somewhere. They don't take away functions from older versions.
You have either a filter active or you rlocal settings have become corrupted.

go into \users\<your_username>\appdata\roaming\Altium\<Altium designer hrid>  and blow away the .dft files and dxp.* files

example path : C:\Users\VincentHimpe\AppData\Roaming\Altium\Altium Designer {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}

You will find a bunch of .DFT files. remove those
there are two DXP files : DXP.RAF and DFT.RCS : remove those

launch altium. It will recreate the files with factory default
Professional Electron Wrangler.

I also thought that, but it was doing it on a different computer in an old version as well.
I'll try the repair on Monday.
