Fiducial Marks
« on: March 24, 2012, 03:36:34 pm »
Hello all,

I'm looking to put some fiducial marks on my PCB but I'm completely lost on how to do this. My initial attempt was to create a pad that was limited to the top layer only and surround it with a circular keep-out zone. But I'm not so sure if this is the correct way.

Would someone here be kind enough to provide a few instructions on how create fiduicial marks in Altium? I've searched online for quite some time.

A 1mm round top layer pad with large -ve paste mask expansion and about 0.5mm solder mask expansion has worked for me.

You don't really need a keepout although it would enforce clearance from tracks and polygon pours. If you want it place a 1mm radius arc around the pad on the top layer and set it as keepout in its properties.
