Is Altium Creepy?
« on: January 14, 2026, 06:13:53 pm »
A while back, I updated my LinkedIn and added Altium in the skills.  Shortly after that, I got an email from Altium.  They noted I have shown interest in Altium and asked for a meeting.

I replied promptly and asked where they saw my interest.  They did not reply.

That email address is not available on my LinkedIn, I guess they have it from when I bought Circuit Studio.

Some of their sales people are irritating, they'll just blast out emails to whoever is not currently subscribed. Almost any sales people who work on commission will be like this. Tell them to remove you from any of their lists and not contact again if you want.

It could be a coincidence or maybe one of them is actively scraping linkedin.
Profile -> Modify profile -> Look and Layout ->  Don't show users' signatures

In a previous life I was in technology sales and when things were quiet, store staff literally went back through the last six month's worth of customers and called them up - how's it going, do you like your xyz, do you know anyone who might be interested, can we have their number?

MECO ("Maximising Every Customer Opportunity") files. It worked in the 90s and got us over the line every month. Now? I doubt it.

Someone at altium is doing the modern-day equivalent of that.

That makes sense and I ocassionally get their sales emails but this had a different feel to it. The other ones are longer and don't say they noted my interest.

If they are trying to fill their quota, I'd think they'd reply to me.

Maybe it's just a sales person spamming everyone and not replying.  The sales team could be of similar quality as their Circuit Studio bug fixing team was.

Has anyone else received an email noting their interest?
