Hey all!
« on: October 02, 2026, 06:49:56 pm »
I am new again here. It was like 25 years ago is was here the last time. Something like that it feels  :D

Not much to introduce i think. I like electronics but have on a scale to 10 maybe 2 experience. The good thing is, i have most of the needed equipment available. I have a Philips-head screwdriver.

Hope i can find here what i need to be able to repair some stuff. And learn. Maybe in the future support others like me  ;)

My daily life is that i have mental problems so big, i can´t work anymore. I loved my job as a forklift driver. But when certain things happened, i am not the same anymore. But still very positive.

I hope i can find the technical help i need on this forum. But also share things i can help with.

I love tubes. My small 2*5 watt sixties tube amp is so alive it motivates me so much to be kind to everyone anytime. Even if people shout at me or i have a bad day. I always think how that small, very hot headed amp, provide me with the most relaxed sounds.

You only have a screw driver?

That won't do. You'll need a hammer too.

For the rest, it all depends on your budget and interests. With a 9V battery, a resistor and a LED you can make it produce some light. A breadboard is handy for temporary connections. Next step up would be some scavenged power supply combined with an LM317, and the next step up is an adjustable current limit.

Dave (Creator EEVblog) has some old video's about setting up a lab for different budgets. And those  video's are mostly about how to approach the subject, not about specific equipment, and thus they are now still as relevant as they were 10 years ago.

Are you aware of circuitsonline.net? It's a dutch electronics forum. It also has links to a whole lot of old magazines, including very old "Elektuur" issues that still use the light bulb things in electronics.

Hi Doctorandus,

I can get a complete lab for free from a late friend. I heard about circuitsonline.net but i am not a member yet. Will register there also. Thanks!

I am very interested in that old Elektuur magazines. Stefaan, a person i recently follow on Youtube is talking about it. He think you have to start with simple projects from that kind of old magazines.

If you have one of these (Philips and Mullard used to work very closely together)

https://www.r-type.org/articles/art-003e.htm

Look after it they are worth £hundreds now I note just the leaflet advertised for £15.

Elektor (in the UK)  was originally a Dutch publication and very well respected.

There are several libraries of old Elektors about.

I believe this site has one, perhaps some members of longer standing here might point to it.

What speakers are you  using with yours ?

Any chance of a photograph or three?

Hi Studiot!

The amp is use is a Lafayette LA-214A and the speakers are the small but mighty Loewe B-20.
A perfect combination if you ask me.

Have several more systems available. Mostly tube radio and amps. But this little Lafayette in combination with the Loewe speakers is the best for me.

My phone does not the best job at night. I took the thirth photo to let you see the other side. Big speakers i use now as a stand for my Philips Fidelio A9 speakers. Active speakers like the old Philips MFB speakers, i also have. The sound is very good, but nothing like the old tube amp.
