IC blown on System Control board in Panasonic AG-500
« on: February 05, 2023, 06:35:35 am »
Good day

I am new to this forum and have a query regarding an issue with my Panasonic AG-500 TV/VCR unit. I found that the BA6248 IC was blown on the System Control board of the VCR, and this in turn blew the 1A fuse on the Sub Main C. B. A. board. I replaced both the IC and fuse, and the VCR appeared to work again, however, the Fast Forward and Rewind functions did not work when selected. Playback and Eject were fine, and then as I reinserted the cassette, it jammed slightly during the initial pulling in. Instead of pushing the tape back out, the machine remained in that position and the same IC(BA6248) and 1A fuse blew again. So I replaced it again, and now the machine just wants to go straight into Playback mode even if no cassette is inserted. I used a dummy tape for this so that no damage would occur to my other tapes, and as I tried to get the machine to eject, it carried on playing and then shut down which then caused the same IC and fuse to blow for the third time. At this point, I'm stuck as to where to examine for other issues as there are a few other IC's and other components which don't appear to be at fault. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I've attached images of the schematics from the service manual.

Kind regards

Stephen

Can't locate the chip.

Google offers a 3-phase motor driver.
Could be a bearing then.

Thank you for your response. I will check the motors that are driven by this component.

You did not attach a schematic of Servo section.

Yes, that is correct. According to the list of parts, BA6248 is actually the recommended IC to use.
