Is it possible to cut down an ESD mat to a more suitable size?

• Is it possible to cut down an ESD mat to a more suitable size?

• Hi I have a 3m ESD mat but my bench is only 1.3m, in essence its an old office desk, could I effectively cut the 3m mat down in size to make fit my bench top or would that risk effecting the effectiveness of the remaining mat at all?

• You can cut your mat to whatever size you need, without influencing the function. Just make sure that the mat is still connected to mains earth after cutting. ;-)
