Lithium battery BMS behaviour
« on: October 19, 2026, 09:05:48 am »
Hello, yesterday I have challenged some BMS issues, but afterwards I have found this is probably OK...
I have connected 18650 3.2 battery and  later 26650 3.2 battery to the smal BMS PCB, in the package was only pcbs, so I solder nickeled strips to board and welded strips to the battery respectively. In the end I got I bundle 18650 and one bundle 26650.

Afterwards, I have checked voltage on P+ and P- contacts. Zero volts!
  • B+ and B- clamps 3.2V - OK
  • P+ and B- 3.2V - OK
  • B+ and P- - 0V

Frislty I assembled 18650 there was clear voltage between P+ and P- ,but not for the case with 26650.
I connected smal diode between 26650, P contacts, it didn't lighted. Afterwards I connected 0.2A load between P+ and P- and load was detected.

I can't have other explation as 26650 has some internal limitation or something as this.

It's not too easy to follow your post, but  most likely you are seeing the result of battery protection.  When first connected, or after a low voltage cut off, such protections usually require a charge voltage to be connected to wake them up.

Maybe I should somehow read this tiny values of components and it helps understand something.
And yes, I will check it after first try of charge.
