I chanced upon this Microchip publication which might be of interest to others just starting to get into microcontroller development:

It contains 144 tips spread out over 137 pages. It was published in 2009 and written specifically for the PIC microcontroller line, but most of the tips are generically applicable to other microcontroller families.
